PLM Research: Breakthrough Technologies for Tomorrow Products

The session will develop the current challenges of research activities to investigate, invent and create new technologies in order to support PLM vision and ensure innovation will stay at the core of Dassault Systemes products. To support the message, several demonstrations of current research prototypes for Solid and Surface modeling as well as DMU and Collaborative Design will give a perspective of the future of PLM industry.

Arnaud RIBADEAU DUMAS born in 1961 is currently Director in charge of Dassault Systemes research activity. Under his responsibility the research teams investigate, invent, create and deploy new technologies to ensure innovation at the core of future DS products. Developed internally or in cooperation with external research labs, the applied research aims at supporting new strategy initiatives for the extended Product Life Cycle Management.

Arnaud joined Dassault Systemes in 1990 and during ten years as a product manager created a number of innovative programs.

First, in charge of the development of Electrical applications, he was regarded as the father of E3D, which is still considered to be the leading solution for 3D electrical harnessing. Next, while being responsible for the Equipment Systems and knowledgeware Solutions from 1994 until 1997, he was introducing knowledge in CATIA V4 and preparing the foundation for one of the main technologies of V5.

Rapidly convinced of the importance of the Internet, he was, from 1997 to 2000, a pioneer and manager of the web solutions: Enovia Portal and CATweb. Once again the main objective was to innovate and deliver to all actors of a company powerful capabilities to access product information from anywhere. For this purpose, a large number of new technologies and patented inventions were introduced in those products.

Before joining Dassault Systemes in 1990 he was formed as a civil engineer and well known as the author of several CAD software packages for personal computer, like "Design 3D" and "CAO 3D"; at that time he was already recognized by the software community as one of the "international 3D specialists".
